Lekhani uses she/her pronouns. She is an actress, writer, facilitator, youth worker and theatre maker based in Manchester. Her unique background as a Cumbrian of Black Mixed Heritage (Malawian & English), a queer, working class and neurodivergent woman, has empowered her to become a powerful creative voice. She considers herself an activist within the creative field and has recently been elected onto Equity’s Race & Equality committee. Storytelling and community is at the heart of all of her work.

on the c4nws lekhani was partnered with lime pictures, attended masterclasses and training days. she wrote her first spec script; cumbrian lass with support of a script editor.

2024

Lekhani won the mca for Promotion of Culture and Education for young carers as part of her play sense’s of responsibility.

2023 / 2024

As part of the wla, lekhani was partnered with royal exchange, contact, factory international, odd arts and home mcr for a year.

From concept to stage, Lekhani develops new ideas with a focus on storytelling and experimentation. She facilitates community groups to educate and inspire.
